The Challenge

People who regularly lend money to friends and family had no dedicated tool to track who owes what, when it's due, and whether partial payments have been made. Spreadsheets were fragile, banking apps had no social debt context, and existing finance apps were bloated with features unrelated to this specific problem.

The Solution

MyDebtTracker focuses on one thing: the financial relationships between people. Users add borrowers and lenders, log transactions, set payment reminders, and track repayment progress per person. The reporting layer exports full debt history for any contact. The UX is deliberately minimal — no budgets, no subscriptions, no complexity.

Results

  • Free to start with no feature restrictions on core tracking
  • Per-borrower debt history with partial payment tracking
  • Payment reminder system to reduce awkward follow-ups
  • Full report export for any contact or date range
  • Clean mobile-responsive experience across all devices

The personal debt problem nobody talks about

Lending money to people you know is uncomfortable enough. Tracking it shouldn't be. Most people rely on memory, chat threads, or makeshift spreadsheets — all of which fail at scale. MyDebtTracker was designed for the person who regularly helps others financially and deserves a proper tool to stay organised without the awkwardness.

Designing for clarity, not features

Every design decision started with the question: does this make the user's financial relationships clearer? The borrower list shows outstanding balance at a glance. Transaction history is chronological and searchable. Payment reminders are set in seconds. Nothing is buried, nothing requires onboarding.

The export layer

One underrated feature is the report export. Users can export a full debt history for any contact — useful when a loan has gone on long enough to need documentation. The export includes all transactions, dates, partial payments, and running balances in a clean, shareable format.
