The Challenge

Pharmacy retail operations are more complex than standard retail: batch tracking, expiry dates, multiple packing units (strip, box, tablet), supplier credit management, and regulatory traceability all create operational overhead that generic POS systems don't handle. Most pharmacies were running on spreadsheets or outdated legacy software.

The Solution

Parchi was built as a pharmacy-first POS platform. The billing module handles packing units natively. Inventory tracks batches and expiry dates with automatic alerts. The supplier module manages credit terms and purchase history. The owner dashboard aggregates everything into a real-time view of store performance — across multiple locations if needed.

Results

  • Pharmacy-native billing with strip, box, and tablet unit support
  • Batch tracking and expiry date management with automated alerts
  • Supplier credit and purchase order management
  • Real-time owner dashboard with multi-branch support
  • Modern web-based interface replacing legacy desktop software

Why pharmacy needs its own POS

A pharmacy isn't a general retailer. Products have batch numbers, expiry dates, multiple packing configurations, and in some jurisdictions, prescription traceability requirements. A general-purpose POS treats a box of 10 strips of 10 tablets as a single SKU. Parchi understands that the strip and the box are the same product at different quantities — and bills accordingly.

The expiry management layer

Expired stock is a financial and regulatory liability. Parchi tracks expiry dates at the batch level and surfaces alerts weeks before products expire — giving pharmacists time to return stock to suppliers, apply discounts, or remove items from sale. This layer alone pays for the software in most pharmacies within the first quarter.

Built for owners, not just staff

The counter staff need a fast billing interface. The owner needs a view of the whole business. Parchi separates these clearly: the billing interface is optimised for speed at the counter, and the owner dashboard aggregates revenue, stock levels, top sellers, and supplier balances across branches. Both views are designed with their user's job in mind.
